High street names come through most often: New Look, Primark, Marks & Spencer, Zara, H&M, Next, Per Una and Honor Millburn all appear regularly. Patterns lean towards floral, striped, abstract, animal print and polka dot, so if you're after prints in particular it's worth also looking at our floral pieces. Styles usually run from cami and cropped tops through to sleeveless summer tops and long sleeve casual shapes, plus dressier going-out tops. Sizing spans UK 2 to 26, though the spread shifts as pieces sell. If you want something with a collar or buttons, the shirts and blouses are listed separately, and plain jersey basics live in t-shirts. What to check on a preloved top

Tops take more wear than most garments, so a few specific things are worth a look before you commit:

  • Underarms and neckline. These are the first areas to thin, stretch or discolour. We flag any marks in the grade and the photos.
  • Strap adjusters on camis. Check the sliders still hold. We note it if they don't.
  • Bobbling on knitted and jersey tops. Common on soft-touch fabrics and usually the reason a top lands at Good rather than Very good.
  • Crop length. Cropped tops vary hugely between brands. Ask for the front length measurement rather than trusting the label.
  • Buttons and fastenings. Spare buttons rarely survive. If one is missing we say so in the description.

Most tops here are graded Very good, with a smaller number New with tags or Good. The grade sits on every listing, and the description spells out anything specific.

Buying secondhand keeps them in use and saves the water and energy of making new ones. It also gets you prints and cuts that are no longer in the shops, which is half the appeal when you're building outfits rather than copying a display. Common questions

Are the tops measured, or do I go by the size label?

Go by measurements where you can. We list the size on the label, but we can send you flat measurements for any top before you buy, just ask. Older high street sizing in particular can differ noticeably from current sizing.

What does the "Very good" grade actually mean?

Very good means the top has been worn but shows no meaningful signs of it, with no holes, stains or stretching. It's the most common grade on this collection. Anything short of that drops to Good, and we describe the reason in the listing text.

Do you sell many tops with the tags still on?

A small number, yes. New with tags pieces do come through and they're labelled clearly at the top of the description. They tend to sell quickly because there's only ever one of each.

Are cropped and cami tops from the 2000s true to modern sizing?

Often not. Y2K-era cropped and strappy tops were frequently cut shorter and narrower than today's equivalents, so a size label can be misleading by a size or more. Ask for the bust and length measurements first rather than ordering and hoping, and remember beaded or sequinned going-out tops usually need hand washing rather than a machine cycle.

Can I return a top if it doesn't suit me?

Yes, you have 14 days to return it for any reason. If something arrives faulty or doesn't match the description you have 30 days. We ask that returned items come back in the same condition they were sent.
