What turns up on the rail

High street names do most of the work here. We regularly see Marks & Spencer, Next, New Look, ROMAN and Bonmarch\u00e9, with Zara and Whistles appearing when good tailoring comes through, plus Friends Like These. Sizes usually run from UK 4 to 26, so both ends of the range are worth checking. Most pieces are graded Very good, and now and then something arrives New with tags.

What to check on preloved workwear

Work clothes get worn hard, so look at the parts that take the strain. On tailored trousers, check the seat and inner thigh for thinning and the waistband for stretch or a stitched-in alteration. On blazers, look at the lining under the arms and at the back vent, and count the buttons in the photos. Blouses wear at the cuffs, the collar edge and the underarms, and pale fabrics can pick up marks that never fully lift.

  • Ask for measurements before you buy. Tailoring sizing shifts a lot between brands, and a UK 12 blazer from one label will not match another.
  • Check sleeve length and rise on trousers if you are tall or petite, as these are the two things that cannot be fixed easily.
  • Look at how a garment is photographed on the hanger. Tailoring that has kept its structure hangs cleanly rather than collapsing.
  • Read the grade. Very good means light wear consistent with use, not flawless.

Why buy work clothes preloved

Workwear is where buying secondhand makes the most sense. Office clothes are often bought, worn a handful of times for one job or one season, then set aside, so they come through in far better condition than everyday casuals. You also get access to better construction than a new budget equivalent: proper linings, real pockets, heavier cloth. Building a week of outfits from mixed brands works well, because the point is fit and colour rather than a matching label. And if something does not work when it lands, you have 14 days to send it back for any reason.

Common questions

Do you list full suits or matching sets?

We sell almost everything as single pieces, because that is how it comes to us. If you want a coordinated look, choose your trousers or skirt first, then match a jacket by colour and cloth weight. We list the fabric composition from the care label on every product page so you can compare.

Is Very good condition smart enough for an office?

In most cases yes. Very good means light signs of wear that are consistent with use, and we photograph any mark or pull we find so nothing is a surprise. If a piece has a flaw that would show under office lighting, we say so in the description and grade it lower.

How should I judge fit if the sizing looks inconsistent?

Honestly, tailored sizing is the hardest part of buying preloved, and older or vintage-cut pieces often run smaller than the label suggests. Message us through the contact form and we will measure waist, hips, chest, inside leg or sleeve on any item before you commit. It takes a day at most and saves a return.

Can preloved tailoring be altered?

Usually, yes. Trouser hems and waistbands are straightforward for a local alteration shop, and jacket sleeves can often be shortened if there is enough seam allowance. Taking a jacket in across the shoulders is the one job worth avoiding, as it is expensive and rarely looks right.

How quickly will it arrive if I need it for a new job?
