What turns up on the rail
Bonmarché pieces come to us in small numbers, so the selection shifts week to week. The steadiest categories are shirts and blouses, trousers and jeans and knitwear. Prints do most of the talking: florals in particular, plus abstract designs that suit summer wear.
- Button-front blouses, often with puff sleeves or a square neck
- Lighter summer tops that work under a cardigan out of season
- Straight and easy-fit trousers with a smart, workwear feel
- Simple jumpers and cardigans for layering
Sizes typically run from UK 8 to 22, so both smaller and fuller sizes appear. Condition is usually strong: most Bonmarché items we list grade Very good, with the occasional Good piece where there is honest light wear. If nothing suits today, the wider womenswear rail is worth a look.
Sizing and fit notes
Bonmarché sizing is generally on the comfortable side rather than close-cut, and tops are often designed with a little more room through the bust and waist than some high street labels. That said, we cannot promise consistency. Sizing has changed over the years and between ranges, so a size 16 blouse from one season may not match a size 16 from another. Fabric matters too: a woven button-front shirt will feel far less forgiving than a stretchy jersey top in the same size.
Because of that, we treat the label size as a starting point only. We measure garments flat and can send you the chest, waist, hip, inside leg or sleeve length for any individual item before you buy. Just ask. It takes a minute and saves a return. If a piece has been altered, taken up or has stretched at the cuffs, we say so in the listing.
Why buy it preloved
Bonmarché sits at the affordable end of the high street, which makes it a sensible way to try a print or a shape without much risk. Buying secondhand keeps that low commitment and takes a garment that already exists out of the waste stream. These clothes are made to be worn and washed often, so many arrive with plenty of life left, particularly the knitwear and printed blouses. You also get one-off pieces: past-season florals and prints that are no longer in shops, in a size spread that goes well beyond the usual 8 to 16.
