Trousers and jeans appear in smaller numbers, along with the odd piece that does not fit a neat category.

Sizing and fit notes

George sizing is broadly true to UK high street, and in our experience it is on the generous side rather than the tight side, particularly through the body of shirts and the waist of trousers. That said, the range covers several different sub-lines and fabrics, so consistency is not guaranteed. Jersey dresses tend to be forgiving; woven shirts can feel closer across the bust. Older pieces may also have been washed a good number of times, which can change how a fabric sits.

Because of that, do not rely on the label alone. We measure garments flat, and we are happy to send chest, waist, hip and length figures for any individual item before you commit. Just ask. If you already own something from the brand that fits well, comparing measurements is the most reliable way to buy secondhand.

Is George the same as Asda's own clothing brand?

Yes, George is the clothing label sold in Asda stores and online. It also had standalone shops in some UK towns in the past, so older pieces may carry slightly different labelling. The garment care label is usually the quickest way to date a piece.

What condition are your George pieces in?

Almost all of the George stock we hold is graded Very good, with the occasional New with tags item still carrying its original swing ticket. Very good means light wear at most and nothing that stops the garment being worn straight away. Any marks, pulls or thinning are photographed and written into the listing.

Does George come up small?

Generally no, we find it sits true to UK sizing or slightly roomy, especially around the waist on trousers. Stretch content varies a lot between pieces though, and a 3 per cent elastane shirt will feel very different from a pure cotton one. Ask us for flat measurements and we will send them over.

Is George worth buying secondhand if it was cheap new?

Honestly, not always. George is budget clothing, and some of it is made in lightweight fabrics that do not survive dozens of washes, so we turn plenty away at intake. What we do list has been checked for bobbling, seam strain and colour loss, and we would rather tell you a piece is only fair than pretend otherwise.
