Expect mini skirts, corduroy, high-waist trousers and jeans, soft knits and printed tops, mostly in UK 4 to 10. What turns up on the rail

Topshop was one of the busiest names on the British high street, so its clothes still come through in volume and in a wide spread of styles. On our rail the strongest categories are skirts, especially mini and high-waist shapes, plus knitwear, printed tops and trousers or jeans. Corduroy shows up regularly, usually in the autumn-weight pieces.

  • Sizes: typically UK 4 to 10 at the moment, so the rail leans small

Sizing and fit notes

Topshop sizing was never one single fit. The main line generally ran close to standard UK sizing, sometimes a touch snug through the waist and hip on denim and fitted skirts. Sub-ranges behaved differently: Petite was cut shorter in the body and leg, Tall added length, and Boutique often came up narrower again. Denim was sold by waist and leg as well as UK size, and different jean names had very different rises and leg widths, so the number on the label is only a starting point.

Because these are older garments that have been worn and washed, stretch and shrinkage vary from piece to piece. We measure rather than guess. Ask us for chest, waist, hip, length or inside leg on any individual item before you buy and we will send them over, along with extra photos if that helps.

Why buy Topshop secondhand

Topshop no longer trades as a high street chain in the way it once did, so the older cuts, prints and corduroy pieces are only really available preloved now. That makes secondhand the sensible route if you liked a particular skirt shape or jean fit and want it again.

The clothes also tend to hold up. Many of the tops, knits and skirts we handle have clearly been worn plenty and still look tidy, which is why they grade Very good. Buying one of these keeps a garment in use, costs less than the equivalent new, and you end up with something that is not on every other rail. Everything is checked, graded honestly and photographed as it actually looks, marks and all.

Common questions

Is Topshop sizing the same as current high street sizing?

Roughly, but not exactly. Older Topshop stock from different years and sub-ranges can vary by an inch or more at the waist, and vintage-style high-waist pieces often sit higher on the body than modern equivalents. Always check the measurements we list or ask us for them.

Do you get larger sizes in Topshop?

Sometimes, but honestly the Topshop pieces that come to us skew small, usually UK 4 to 10. If you wear a UK 14 or above, the Topshop rail will often have nothing for you on a given day. It is worth following the wider clothing collection instead, where the size spread is much broader.

What does the Very good grade mean in practice?

It means the item has been worn but has no holes, stains or missing buttons, and any softening or light bobbling is minor and mentioned in the listing. We photograph every piece under the same lighting so you can see the actual fabric surface. Nothing is steamed or edited to hide wear.

Are the corduroy pieces heavy or lightweight?

It varies. Topshop used everything from fine needlecord in shirts and pinafores to chunkier cord in trousers and mini skirts, so the weight is not predictable from the photo alone. Tell us which item you are looking at and we will describe the handfeel and the wale.

There is nothing in my size right now. What should I do?

Check back soon, as new pieces are added most days and Topshop comes through often. You can also message us with your size and the sort of thing you want, such as a cord mini or a floral top, and we will keep an eye out when we are sorting new stock.
